Northview Titan Soccer News
1) New NOCSAE Shin Guard Standards:
All shin guards must have the approved NOCSAE (National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment) stamp or tag on them in order for them to be deemed legal by the referees. If you do not have this tag or stamp on your shin guards you must get new ones before the first match.
Here are the official NOCSAE website and info pages.

2) The Staff of Kicks & Sticks has offered Northview Titan soccer players a coupon (PDF) good for a 20% discount on any item in their stores.
Right now they have a great selection of shoes, shin guards (NOCSAE Approved for High School Play), balls, apparel and cold weather gear.
If you haven't got NOCSAE approved shin guards this would be a good time to check them out.
The coupon is good until the end of March at either their Alpharetta or Buford stores.
As an added bonus, if you are a member of their Kicks Club, present your Kicks Club card and get an additional 10% off on your purchase. That's a total 30% off!
They can be reached at (770) 569-8318 (Alpharetta-11550 Jones Bridge Road) or (678) 714-4924 (Buford-4300 Buford Drive).

4) News from the President:
Happy New Year to all. As we all strive to settle in to the second semester, the Northview High School Soccer Boosters and Coaches would like to share some important information regarding the soccer season:
Volunteer Opportunities
- Kick-off dinner - help needed to set up, decorate, coordinate food, "man" the various stations for sign-ups
- Pancake Eat-a-Thon - organize sponsorships, keep track of pancakes consumed, take photos
- Taste of Northview and Spring Gala - more to come, but get those auction items for the Gala...
- Senior week and Senior Night - organizing of various activities during the week such as breakfast, signs and decorations for the game, etc.
- Each team will need a Team Parent, Uniform Coordinator, Away Game Meal Coordinator, Announcer for home games
- There will also be a need for drivers to away games to the extent that busses are not used and volunteers to host/organize activities based on individual team events (e.g. pasta dinner the night before occasional games).
Fundraising - As many of you know Fulton County and the school budget, like many jurisdictions, provides facilities and coaches’ salaries (except asst. coaches), but does not pay for uniforms, equipment, and meals. In addition, we, along with the other sports that use the stadium, have to pay an annual amount toward the artificial turf funding. This equates to about $30,000 (in very rounded numbers) that needs to be raised. The funding comes from the player fees, fundraising events and sales of spirit wear. Note that we do not receive funds from concessions sales - concessions are operated by Performing Arts, which receives the sales proceeds.
5) The outgoing and incoming Goal Club Boards recently met and the meeting minutes will be posted in the near future.
