Northview Titans Junior Varsity Boys Game Summary
Norcross v. Northview 7-0
March 7th
At kick-off, it was 59 F and raining. The weather was not nice to the Titans and neither were the Blue Devils. There were less than 20 spectators.
The slippery conditions meant both teams were going to make mistakes. The first 15 minutes were quite even but then Norcross began to put the Titans under pressure. After 21 minutes, an unfortunate collision between Titan Keeper Aaron Kim and Ramu Annamalai allowed the ball to fall to a Norcross forward and it was 1 - 0.
Chase Collier subbed in for Sam Bevan after 28 minutes. Norcross were awarded a free kick near the half way line. The resulting cross into the penalty box produced their 2nd goal. The Titans let their concentration slip & after a quick break it was 3 -0.
On the stroke of half time, Josh Taylor broke towards the Norcross goal. As the keeper came out, they collided so heavily that both players were finished for the night. The Norcross Blue Devils were a much bigger team and were winning every ball in the air.
In the second half, the Titans, still troubled by lack of concentration, were outpaced by Norcross who had 2 quick breaks with long range shots after 37 minutes & 44 minutes, and it was 5 - 0.
The Titans tried to get back into the game. Unfortunately, Josh Hoehn's shot went wide. After 45 minutes, the Titans had a good opportunity when the Norcross goalkeeper stepped outside of the penalty box with the ball. From the resulting free kick, Sam Bevan just missed wide. A few minutes later, Russell Bradford just failed to connect with a cross near the goal post. In defense, Ross Cantrell made a good clearance. Twenty minutes into the second half Alex Tertichny made a good break and passed to Pall Kornmayer who shot wide.
With 12 minutes left, Sung Baek & Bader Kashlan entered the game. In the last few minutes, a long range shot from Norcross was deflected into the goal to make it 6 - 0. A minute later Norcross scored a 7th goal which was clearly offside.
Not a good night for the JV Titans.
