Northview Titans Junior Varsity Boys Game Summary
Northview v. Mill Creek, 1-1

In short, it was cold (48 F), wet & miserable outside. The rainy conditions of the previous 24 hours produced pools of water all over the field. The Bulldogs quickly sussed out that the slippery conditions made it difficult for the goalkeeper to hold onto the ball, so they tested Aaron Kim with several long shots.
Eight minutes into the game, the Bulldogs came down the right wing into the box, but were stopped on the 6 yard line by Ramu Annamalai. The Titans got their first chance at 10 minutes when Pall Kornmayer fed the ball out to the left wing where Russell Bradford gave it to Chase Collier. It then went back to Pall who shot the ball just over the bar. The attacks by the Titans continued & at 11 minutes, Sam Bevan won a corner.
A shot by Jason Alwes in the 20th minute went left of the goal. The resulting goal kick went straight to Steve Kim who raced back & was brought down 2 yards outside the Bulldogs' box. Sam Bevan took the kick which went wide right.
At 22 minutes, Pall Kornmayer took a free kick. The ball went to Steve Kim who passed to Alex Tertichney on the right side of the box. Alex dribbled it past the defender & placed it in the bottom corner...GOAL! Titans 1 - Bulldogs 0
At 24 minutes Josh Taylor substituted for Ross Cantrell. Ramu Annamalai's header from the Bulldogs' goal kick in the 30th minute bounded straight back up the middle to Josh Taylor who headed toward the goal. Both Josh T. & the defender went down just outside the box. The call went against the Titans & the Bulldogs booted it down the field.
Sung Baek came in for Tyler Dewitt in the 31st minute. Two minutes later, the Titans were close to extending their lead as the ball was thrown into the box to Russell Bradford who passed to Sam Bevan. Josh Taylor received his cross & headed just high & wide.
At the start of the second half, Cameron Greenberg was up front for Josh Taylor. The Titans won a throw-in on the right & the ball was rallied from Pall Kornmayer to Sam Bevan to Jason Alwes who won the corner. Russell took the corner & Sam headed it but the keeper caught it on the line. From the goalkeeper's clearance Alex Tertichney intercepted the ball as it was stopped by a puddle. The ball was played to Ross Cantrell then to Russell and out to the wing where Alex centered but the keeper scooped it up. The Titans continued the attack at 40 minutes with Cameron Greenberg playing it to Sam who passed it to Russell for a shot on goal which the keeper caught.
A few minutes later, Pall Kornmayer passed to Josh Dunn who deflected it off a defender for a throw. Sam tossed it to Jason Alwes inside the box but the pressure forced him to give it back to Sam whose shot from the left made it across the goal. Russell raced in behind the defender & just missed deflecting Sam's shot into the net. As so often is the case when one team begins to look dangerous, the other starts coming back. A mistake by the Titan's defense in the 44th minute allowed the Bulldogs to get through 2 on 1 against Josh Dunn & the score was tied.
Five minutes later, the Bulldogs are awarded a corner. There was frantic defending as their shot hit the bar, came back out & was drilled straight to Aaron Kim. From the clearance the Bulldogs scrambled down the right wing but Tyler Dewitt came out to make a great stop.
From a throw-in to the Titans, at the 53rd minute, Ross Cantrell got a shot on target, which was saved by the keeper. Josh Hoehn & Chase Collier went on for Jason Alwes & Tyler Dewitt. Steve Kim got a break at 58 minutes when he won the ball in the box. He was tackled & dropped it back to Sam. The Titans showed good control as the ball traveled to Chase, Sam, Russell, Alex, Steve, Russell, and Josh Hoehn then back to Steve before the Bulldogs could eventually get it out of trouble.
Once again the Titans were on the attack at the 62nd minute as Josh Hoehn captured the ball to pass to Chase, Sam, & Steve before Josh headed the ball toward the Bulldogs defense, who managed to direct it to midfield. About a minute later Steve Kim was replaced by Josh Taylor who sprinted towards the right wing with the other forwards splitting the defense and heading to the left. Josh tried to use his speed against the defender but the wet conditions made it difficult to keep his footing & the defender was able to deflect the ball for a throw-in.
By 67th minute, the Titans were pushing for a winner and Josh H. gave the throw-in to Russell whose cross was cleared by the Bulldogs, but only as far as Alex T. on the right wing. His cross was marginally too high for Josh Taylor who collided with the defender. There was a short corner with Sam & Russell, & the ball was centered to Josh Hoehn who lunged but just couldn't reach the cross.
With just 2 minutes left, Pall won a corner from Alex's throw-in. Russell took it as Ramu came up from the Titan defense, looking to score. The defense cleared it but the Titans were once again barreling toward the Bulldogs. The defensive kick was given to Alex who brought it down the right wing, beating the defender. Chase Collier trapped Alex's cross, took a shot but it went just wide, with only 50 seconds remaining. Instead of running down the clock with less than 30 seconds to play, the Titans messed around with the ball and gave it away to the Bulldogs. Fortunately, the Bulldogs couldn't do anything and the game ended up in a draw.
