Northview Titans Junior Varsity Boys Game Summary

Northview v. Centennial - 2-3
April 13th

The Titans’ team kicked-off in its usual 4-4-2 formation with the starting line-up being:-

Russell Bradford           Andy Chen

The game was uneventful for the first 25 minutes with both teams probing quietly and not getting any dangerous shots at goal.  This changed in the 25th minute when Carter Rhoad was forced into a diving save and giving away a corner.  Nothing resulted from that corner and the half ended with both teams not really threatening the goals.

The second half got off to a much faster start & in the 39th minute, the ball was crossed to Josh Taylor whose header hit the post before rolling into the net.  Unfortunately the lead was short-lived as Centennial kicked off, took the ball down field & equalized, without a Northview player touching the ball.  Very sloppy defending! 

Eight minutes later, Centennial scored the “go ahead” goal as they once again took the ball, unchallenged, down the center of midfield into the penalty box & beat Carter Rhoad near the right hand post. 

With 6 minutes left in the game, Centennial won a foul 10 yards outside the center of the Titans’ penalty area & scored a nice goal directly from the free kick to make the score 3 – 1. 

Northview pulled one goal back when Josh Taylor chipped the ball over the keeper with a couple of minutes left.
