Northview Titans Junior Varsity Boys Game Summary
Collins Hill v. Northview 1-1
April 18th
The Titan JV boys took to the field on Monday April 18 for their final game of the season. They played to a 1 - 1 draw vs. Collins Hill. The Titans played perhaps their best soccer of the year in the first half of the match. The Titans continually put pressure on the Collins Hill defense and had several excellent scoring opportunities.
In the 11th minute, Russell Bradford created an opportunity, one v keeper, but his shot missed the mark. In the 15th minute, Alex Tertichny took a shot after receiving a cross, but he was not able to score.
Over the next few minutes, Collins Hill had three shots, all of which were stopped by the keeper, Bader Kashlan.
In the 25th minute, the Titans finally scored. Sam Bevan served up a beautiful corner kick that Alex Tertichny headed into the goal passed the Collins Hill keeper.
In the 31st minute, Russell Bradford again created another scoring opportunity but his shot was just wide.
The Titans had two more opportunities in the remaining minutes of the first half but were unable to convert. In the 35th minute, Chase Collier took the ball 30 yards down the field and made a cross and in the 37th minute Josh Taylor made a nice cross but the Titans could not connect on the other end of either cross.
The first half ended with Collins Hill knocking on the door, but Bader and the rest of the defense were able to hold them off.
The second half was a completely different story than the first half. Collins Hill regrouped during halftime and played much better in the second half starting with the opening kick off. The Titans kicked off but soon lost the ball to Collins Hill. From that point on, Collins Hill dominated the second half, much in the same fashion as the Titans dominated the first half.
Collins Hill controlled the pace of game in the second half. They created a number of scoring opportunities. They had shots in the 50th and 55th minutes of the game that just missed.
The Titans had a couple of opportunities. Josh Dunn made a nice cross from the corner in the 63rd minute and in the 67th minute Pall Kornmayer had a shot on goal.
After missing shots in the 71st and 74th minutes, Collins Hill finally scored in the 76th minute on a controversial corner kick to tie the match at 1 - 1.
The Titans had one more opportunity as the game neared the end. In the 78th minute, Sam Bevan had a direct kick on goal that rebounded off the Collins Hill keeper but the Titans just barely missed the rebound.
