Northview Titans Junior Varsity Boys Game Summary
Northview v. Milton - 2-1

The Titans’ team, which was captained tonight by Josh Taylor and Caulin Collier, kicked-off in a 4-4-2 formation with the starting line-up being:-

Jacob Lee made his first, and presumably only, appearance for the Titans’ J.V. team after having played Varsity for most of the season. We saw why he plays Varsity since he controlled the midfield for the Titans & had a calming effect upon his team mates, making them bring the level of their game up toward his.
After 4 minutes, the Eagles attacked down the right wing & won the first corner of the game after Steve Whitesides headed the ball clear. The corner was cleared to Jacob Lee who was fouled near the midfield. Jarrod Neser took the free kick & played the ball out wide to Steve Whitesides but his cross went out for a throw-in near the corner flag.
Milton won their 2nd corner in the 7th minute after Caulin Collier won a challenge for the ball in the penalty area. After 10 minutes, despite their control in midfield, the Titans had not managed a shot on the Eagles’ goal, yet Milton had had several attempts on the Titan goal.
Northview’s first serious attack came in the 17th minute when Russell Bradford took the ball down the right wing & crossed to Josh Taylor in the penalty area. A defender managed to clear the ball & from the throw-in, Russell Bradford won the Titans’ first corner. The Titans were putting pressure on the Eagles at this stage & following a nice play involving Steve Kim & Chad Elsey, Northview shot wide.
In the 24th minute, Northview won their 2nd corner which was taken by Josh Taylor whose cross was headed in by Jarrod Neser to give the Titans a 1 – 0 lead. Prior to the re-start, Chase Collier came on for Chad Elsey. Northview piled on the pressure as Jacob Lee won the ball in midfield & with good vision, sent a long through ball for Russell Bradford & Steve Kim to chase but the Eagles’ goalkeeper dashed out from his goal & just beat them to the ball.
With 7 minutes left, Milton chipped the ball just wide as Carter Rhoad took his turn to dash out from the goal & distract the forward. A couple of minutes later, the Titans had a nice move involving 5 players which resulted in Chase Collier shooting just wide. With seconds left in the first half, Jacob Lee set up Steve Kim for one final shot at the Milton goal.
The 2nd half got off to a terrible start when Josh Taylor broke his ankle in a tackle at midfield & had to be carried off the field on a golf cart. We wish Josh a speedy recovery & hope to see him on Varsity next season.
This injury situation caused the game to be delayed about 20 minutes. Following the resumption of the game, Northview controlled the midfield, putting pressure on the Eagles’ defense. This left the Titans susceptible to a quick counterattack & in the 42nd minute, the Eagles broke through to beat Carter Rhoad but the shot came back off the crossbar.
On the 50 minute mark, Northview went down the right wing & won a throw-in near the corner flag. Jarrod Neser put one of his long throws over the Milton goalkeeper’s head & Sebastian Czech ran in behind the keeper to head the Titans’ 2nd goal.
Four minutes later, Milton pulled a goal back following a move down the right wing. Neither team had any further good goal scoring opportunities until the 65th minute, when a Milton forward chipped the ball over Carter Rhoad & the ball rolled wide just before another Milton forward was able to reach it.
