Goal Club Meeting Minutes

February 21, 2006

Fifteen members attended the meeting.

Membership:  An additional $1,000 has been raised for soccer by parents joining the Northview booster club.

Spiritwear:  the last spiritwear item has been sold!  Thanks to Pat Bereznek for her hard work in managing the inventory and sales the last 3 years.

Pancake eat-a-thon:  This fundraiser raised $5,270.86.  Jeremy Stille raised the most money ($350) and was the winner of the iPod.

Starlit Odyssey:  Soccer has contributed about $7,745 worth of merchandise for the live and silent auctions.  So far, 57 tickets have been purchased by soccer parents to attend.

Golf tournament:  To date, there are 4 paid foursomes.  Golfers are needed.  We need to receive money from those who have indicated interest, or an official decline.  Contacts for the John’s Creek Herald and the North Fulton Schools section of the AJC were identified and will be contacted to possibly promote this event.

Spring Sports Program:  Progress being made – all is going well.

Varsity pasta dinner:  This will be held after practice on February 27th at the McCollum’s for all varsity players.  Players are being contacted for contributions.  The Van Patten’s are hosting a rib dinner for the JV boys on March 8th.

TitanTron: We will plan to use the TitanTron during 2 games – March 24 – the game against Chattahoochee and April 18 – Senior Night.

Turf news:  A meeting was held last Wednesday of all organizations who are funding the turf  (football, soccer, lacrosse).  Kohl Collier attended on behalf of the Goal Club.  Gate funds are covering about half of the loan cost, the individual organizations need to pay the balance.  Soccer’s share for 2006 is $7,000 – which has been held in reserve in our budget for this purpose.

New board election process:  The new Goal Club board takes office on May 31st.  All four current board members will be leaving their position – either because they have graduation seniors or because the by laws limits the number of years one can hold office.  It was proposed that a committee of three be formed to nominate individuals for all of the positions.  Kohl Collier, Jim Mitchell and Russell Whorton volunteered to act as the committee.  An email will be sent to all members 60 days ahead of time to alert the membership of the process.  The roster of nominees will be discussed/added to at the March Goal club meeting and voting for the new board members will occur during the end-of-season banquet  in May.

End of Year banquet:  We will hold this at the Metropolitan Club on Tuesday, May 16th.  Unnur Kornmayer and Judy Griffin will be chairing this event.

The next meeting will be held Wednesday, March 22 at 7:00 PM
