Goal Club Meeting Minutes
August 31, 2005
Attendance: 15 members attended the meeting
The meeting was opened and the board members introduced.

The purpose and frequency of meetings for the Goal Club (last Monday of each month) were explained.
Coach’s Report: The basics of the Northview Soccer program were explained for the benefit of the new members.
Varsity coaches for the boys team will continue to be: Tony Cianciola (head coach) and Bill Wortman (assistant coach). The JV Boys coach is: Ron Folds. The girls varsity team has two new coaches: Jen Barr will be the head coach, with Jeff Bourne the assistant coach. Derek Roberts will continue to coach the JV Girls team.
Tryouts for all teams will take place the last week in January, with a week of conditioning the week prior. The first allowed game is Feb. 14.
A meeting for all interested soccer players will be held before school soon.
Events during the year:
- Meet the Coaches night will be held in January, prior to tryouts. The specific date and location to be announced. No fee to attend is planned this year.
- The Kick-off dinner will be held at school after one of the practices shortly after the teams are chosen. At this time, fees are collected for uniform rental and a handbook is distributed that has the game schedules, directions to the away games, roster for all teams, profiles of the coaches and information needed by the players during the season. The specific date for this event will be announced later.
- Senior night – a time near the end of the season when all of the senior players are recognized. The specific date for this event will be announced later.
- End of year banquet. This will be held in May after the seasons have been completed.
Fundraising:
- Car Washes. Mike and Bobbie Stoniecki have volunteered to oversee the car washes this year. Scheduled dates so far are:
- Sept. 10th, Oct. 1 & Nov. 5
- All are on Saturday from 9 AM to 2 PM at the John’s Creek Wendy’s
- Spring Sports Program. Cheri English volunteered to chair this project, which involves selling advertisements for the program and coordinating the information and photo sessions for the spring sports.
- Pancake eat-a-thon. Amy Stille and Cindy Darby will be chairing this event.
- Starlit Odyssey: A chairperson to handle the soccer club input to this event is needed.
- Chastain Night. It was decided not to have this event this year.
- Golf tournament: It was suggested that the club consider sponsoring a golf tournament. Derek Roberts and Fred van Patten volunteered to get information on this and report back to the club at the next meeting.
- Car Wash Tickets: It was also suggested that the club sell car wash tickets as a fundraising activity. Ellen Elsay agreed to investigate this.
Volunteers are needed for the following positions. If you have interest in finding out the responsibilities involved with any of the following, or wish to volunteer, please contact Charlie Stille (cstille729@aol.com) or Jayne McCollum (mccollum40@bellsouth.net).
- Varsity boy’s representative (acting as a liaison between the coach and the team, arranging for away game meals and transportation as necessary.)
- Varsity girl’s representative (acting as a liaison between the coach and the team, arranging for away game meals and transportation as necessary.)
- Web site manager
- Game reporter (primarily reporting key scores and information to media relations representative Alison Findlay)
- Game announcer to announce the line-ups and report on the game and run the scoreboard. EMP students will run the video portion of the Titan Tron. Each team (JV Girls, JV Boys, Varsity Girls, Varsity Boys) is responsible for getting their own announcer for each game.
