Goal Club Meeting Minutes
December 19, 2005
Coach’s Report:
- 3 weeks of conditioning have gone well. Attendance has been sporadic due to conflicts with club soccer. Sessions will continue Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays until tryout week.
- We’re all set on uniforms.
- New game balls have been ordered as well as some size 3 player game balls.
- Shoes and warm-ups have been ordered for new coaches.
Meet-the-Coaches Night will be held on January 12th at the Medlock Bridge Club House. At 7 PM. No fee will be charged to attend. Cookies and coffee will be provided. Heavier snacks provided in past years were found to be unnecessary. Cindy Darby is chairing that event. There will be a chance to buy Odyssey tickets, and ads for the Spring program.
Kick –off dinner: After the teams have been selected, the season kick-off dinner will be held Thursday, Feb 2nd at the high school. Tracey Wilson volunteered to chair this event.
- Each team will be advised as to the type of food to provide for the potluck dinner. It is probable that varsity players will be asking to bring an entrée (lasagna, ziti, etc.) and JV players will bring salad, breads, or other side dishes.
- Player fees will be collected at this time. They are estimated to be $75 for uniform rental, $6/meal for away games with optional spiritwear available including a new sweatshirt design.
Pancake eating contest: Amy Stille and Cindy Darby will chair this event, tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, January 25 , right after tryouts.
Starlit Odyssey: This will be held March 4, 2006.
- Kathy Alonso still needs 1 girls and 1 boy parent to assist to gathering items from each team.
- Auction items are needed. Any leads for possible donations can be directed to Kathy.
- Kathy presented several gift basket ideas: A prom basket for girls to include a coupon for dress, hair, nails, etc. and for boys to include coupons for tux rental, limo, etc. This idea has been presented to the larger committee for approval and to make sure no other group is using this idea. A concern was expressed that since the prom is so early this year (March 27) it may be difficult to redeem some of these coupons (e.g., limo) that have to be booked well in advance.
- Other gift basket ideas were a Spring Break basket, or a Graduation basket.
Golf tournament: A meeting of the golf committee will take place immediately after this meeting. Golfers are needed – sign up forms were handed out, and can also be obtained on the website. The event will be on March 27, with tee off time of 10 AM. As you get contact for golfers, hole sponsors, or other donors, keep Amy Stille informed so we don’t solicit the same company multiple times.
Spring Sports Program: For those companies that have purchased ads in the fall and/or winter programs, letters will be sent thanking them for their past support and asking for support for the Spring program as well. These mailings will include a copy of the form. Photos and other artwork will be due back by January 13. Tracey will find out what format (.jpeg, .pdf, etc.) these need to be in.
End of year Banguet: We will hold this at the Metropolitan Club again this year.
Senior Nite will be held between the varsity games on during our last game in April.
Use of TitanTron: It is tentatively proposed that the we use the TitanTron during home, region games.
The next meeting will be held Monday, January 16 at 7:00 PM (changed to 1/17 since 1/16 in MLK day)
