February 15th
The Titans first varsity game was played on the home field of the Milton Eagles of Alpharetta. It was a cool, damp evening at the games' start, but heated up quickly with very physical and aggressive play by both teams.
Milton came out energized to start the first half, but Northview scored first on a goal by Sayeed Mehrjerdian. This goal sparked the crowd and the Milton team, and Milton scored their first goal 3 minutes later to tie the game 1-1.
With 14:48 remaining in the 1st half, Northview was called for a foul in the box resulting in a penalty kick. Milton scored on the pk to go ahead 2-1.
The physical game continued and with 7:43 remaining in the first half, Milton was called for a foul in the box resulting in a penalty kick for Northview. Jeff Scannella converted the pk to tie the game at 2-2. The first half ended tied at 2 apiece.
The 2nd half began with a more deliberate pace, and within 5 minutes Northview's Andrew Johnson scored on a breakaway to give Northview the lead 3-2. A little more than a minute later Milton score off of a free kick to once again tie the game at 3-3.
Northview's defense of Alex Alonso, Brian Colyer, and Stephen Gulia stiffened to frustrate the Milton attack for the next 12+ minutes. Titan GK, Brian Luksis had several outstanding and acrobatic saves to keep Northview in the game. Then, with 17:48 remaining, Northview's Jeff Scannella took advantage of Milton's frustration and broke thru for the goal that gave Northview a 4-3 lead.
Unfortunately, this soccer battle would not end in a Northivew win. With 15:43 remaining in the game, Northview was called for yet another foul in the box and Milton was awarded another penalty kick. The resulting penalty kick was converted by Milton to tie the game at 4-4 where it ended.
Northview's midfield of David Cantor, Josh Carter, Brandon McCullom, and Jeremy Stille were solid throughout the game, the forwards of Mario Perazza, Cameron Pratt and Andrew Cameron created numerous opportunities, the defense showed steady improvement, and the goalkeeper kept Northview in the game.
The Titans ended in a 4-4 tie with the Eagles.
