Northview Titans Varsity Boys Game Summaries

Northview v. Peachtree Ridge 0-2
March 10th, 2006

Tonight was not the Titans’ night, as the Peachtree Ridge Lions defined the pace and control of the game, and won 2-0 in Northview’s first loss of the season.

The Lions scored early in each half, at 7 minutes and at 44 minutes.  Will Whorton reacted to two other good chances for the Lions, preventing further scoring.

As for the Titans, they couldn’t break thru the defense often enough, with the Lions breaking up several passes and shots from the 20 to 30 yard range.  Also, many well placed opportunities were thwarted by an effective game style by the Peachtree Ridge goalkeeper, who often came out 10 to 15 yards off his line to control incoming aerial passes.

The Titans had a number of corner kicks in each half, but the Lions got a head on most of them to clear the ball away from the penalty area.  As the Lions frustrated the Titan passing attack in from midfield, Northview switched to long passes in for their attackers, but few found the mark.
