Northview Titans Varsity Girls Game Summaries

Northview v. North Springs - 0-2

The Varsity Lady Titans traveled to North Springs High School to battle the Lady Spartans. The physical conditions of the game were less than perfect. The game was delayed 30 minutes, the temperature was frigid, and the field was terribly muddy which left the Lady Titans having a difficult time staying on their feet and able to attack the ball.

The Lady Spartans came right out in the game and took an early shot on goal which was saved by keeper Whitney Ernst. This was followed by an offensive run by the Lady Titans which started at the 37th minute of the first half. Emily Dixon started it off with a shot on goal. Within the next 2 minutes, Gornall, Dixon and Burke all took shots on goal.

The Lady Titans were out-shooting the Lady Spartans, but on a great corner kick to a header the Spartans scored on Whitney Ernst to put them up 0-1.

Brittany Bauschka had two incredible penalty kick opportunities that were saved by the keeper.

At minute 17:54 Eileen McIntire makes a great defensive play to save a kick that had sent Whitney Ernst scrambling. At minute 6:13 Nicole Ernst took a shot on goal, followed by Amy Libardi.

Although the Lady Titans had taken many great shots on goal, the score at the end of the first half was 0-1 Lady Spartans.

The second half was similar to the first as the Titans continued to shoot on goal. Nicole Ernst came out in the 38th minute to shoot. The momentum of the game took a shift as the Lady Spartans fired off two shots saved by Ernst in the goal. Dixon got her foot on a Spartan corner kick to save a goal. The Spartans were given a penalty and an opportunity for a direct kick. A quick shot to the left of the goal put the Spartans up 0-2. The Lady Spartans came on the attack again forcing a diving save by Titan Keeper Ernst.

It was Libardi who got the offense fired up and Nicole Ernst, and Dixon took their turns shooting on goal. Dixon had a near shot as she headed the ball on a Titan corner kick.

At minute 5:17 Bauschka put up a great penalty kick which was taken by Dixon and shot on goal.

In spite of shot after shot, the Lady Titans were unable to put the ball in the goal. They suffered their first loss of the season: 0-2 to the Lady Spartans of North Springs.
