Northview Titans Varsity Girls Game Summaries

Norcross v. Northview - 1-1
March 8th

The Lady Titan Varsity girls were delighted to play on their home field on Tuesday night. They hosted the Lady Blue Devils from Norcross High School.

The Lady Titans came onto the field and really showed the crowd and the Lady Blue Devils just what they are capable of doing. At minute 35 Kim Bereznak took the ball, dribbled up field and scored. Titans 1-0.

Meredith Kaywood took a shot on goal. Less than a minute later, Whitney Ernst made a quick snatch to save the goal. At the 32nd minute, Jen Gornall made a great drive which set up a corner kick.

It was 10 minutes before the Lady Blue Devils took another shot which was saved by Ernst.

The Lady Titans spent the next twenty-one minutes putting up shots on goal. Emily Dixon had a great shot, but was denied by a lucky save by the Norcross keeper. Amy Libardi followed up with her shot. After another run up the field Dixon again with a shot on goal.

Brittany Bauschka had a game full of incredible kicks from penalty calls. Twice in the first half her penalty kicks sent the Blue Devil keeper scrambling.

At the 13th minute Dixon again frustrated their keeper to take a shot. Libardi followed up with her shot. Bereznak dribbled up field and passed up to Dixon who shot, but was denied by the Lady Blue Devils.

Nicole Ernst headed the ball for a near score off a corner kick, and with 17 seconds left in the half she took another shot on goal.

End of the first half Lady Titans 1-0.

The second half started off with the Lady Blue Devils determined to score, but the Lady Titans' defense played tough and helped Titan keeper Ernst deny them over and over. Jen Gornall pushed up in the 30th minute to shoot on goal.

The Blue Devils did get an opportunity to score and tie the game. 1-1

Nicole Ernst took a shot on goal with 5 minutes to go in the game. With 1:30 remaining, Keeper Whitney Ernst and a Lady Blue Devil collided in the box and the Titans once again denied Norcross the chance to go ahead.

It was an exciting game and every player on the field made a great contribution to the game. Good work Lady Titans. Final score 1-1.
