Northview Titans Varsity Girls Game Summaries

Northview v. Buford- 4-0
March 9th

On Wednesday night the Varsity Lady Titans traveled to Buford High School to battle the Lady Wolves.

The Lady Titans came out ready to play and that was evident as they took control of the game early with a score by Jen Gornall at the 38th minute.  Titans 1-0

The Lady Titans then proceeded to take 23 shots on goal in the first half alone.  Titan Keeper Whitney Ernst made 1 save the whole half and that was the only time she got her hands on the ball.

The following is a break-down of the shots taken the first half:

Emily Dixon: 5 shots and 2 assists on shots by Bereznak and Ernst
Amy Libardi:  3 shots on goal
Jen Gornall: 1 goal and another shot on goal
Meredith Kaywood:  5 shots on goal
Kayla Griffin:  2 shots and 1 great rebound shot from a corner kick
Kim Bereznak: takes an assist from Dixon and shoots
Nicole Ernst:  takes an assist from Dixon and shoots
Molly Burke:  2 shots on goal
Amy McDonald:  1 close shot that hits the pole
Brittany Bauschka: 1 shot on goal after a penalty call

Score at the end of the first half Lady Titans lead 1-0.

The second half began much like the first with a shot at the 38th minute from Gornall. 

At seven minutes into the half Bauschka puts a corner kick near Dixon's feet.  She sends it over to Gornall who heads the ball in for a score.  2-0

This was followed by shots on goal by Libardi, Ernst and Dixon.

Kayla Griffin chased a ball that was deflected away from the goal by a Buford player.  She turned and kicked it into the legs of another Buford player and it flew into the goal for a score.  3-0

Dixon sent a great ball to Bereznak who scored to put the Titans up by four.  4-0

The Lady Wolves got some offense going and Whitney Ernst spent some time protecting the goal by making 3 saves.  The whole defense worked together to deny the Lady Wolves opportunities to move the ball down field and shoot.

Katie Darby saw some action in the back field and made a great play to stop a good Buford run.  Bauschka saw a great kick on a penalty call which just missed the goal.  Burke also had a great kick on a penalty call that sent the Buford keeper scrambling to save it.  McDonald took a great shot on goal with 17:10 left in the game. Bereznak followed her with her own great shot that was saved by the keeper, and at 12 minutes remaining Kayla fired off another shot.

The Lady Titans continued to play tough and moved the ball to McDonald who fed the ball to Jessica who took a nice shot with 5 minutes left.

The game ended up with Whitney Ernst making a nice dive to deny the Lady Wolves of any score in the game.
