Northview Titans Varsity Girls Game Summaries

Northview v. Peachtree Ridge 0-3
March 11th

The Varsity Lady Titans traveled to Peachtree Ridge High School to battle the Lady Lions on Friday, March 11.

The Lady Lions came right out in the game and moved the ball down field for a shot before the 38th minute.  Whitney Ernst came up with the early save.  However, her luck wouldn't hold out as within the next four minutes the Lady Lions scored 3 goals to put the Lady Titans behind    0-3.

With an extremely stiff wind blowing against the Lady Titans, they found it difficult to effectively move the ball. 

Brittany Bauschka and the rest of the defense had their work cut out for them as the Lady Lions continued their offensive pressure.  Bauschka did have a good kick on a penalty call that went just wide from the net.  She followed that up with a great defensive move that blocked a potential goal and was picked up by Titan keeper Ernst.

Meghan Swindall moved the ball to the goal 2 times to take a shot.  Once at the 14th minute, and again at the 8th minute.

Emily Dixon played tough offensively and put up her shot on goal with 10:31 remaining in the first half.

Ernst made 2 more saves in goal to deny the Lady Lions a score.  Near the 5th minute Nicole Ernst took the ball and shot on goal.  As the first half was near its completion, the Lady Lions had a break away and keeper Ernst ran out and saved the goal with a great dive kick.

End of first half 0-3.

As the second half got underway the defense again played tough as the Lady Lions continued to move the ball in their direction.  Bauschka and Eileen McIntire made some tough defensive plays and slide kicks.  Swindall also hustled to make a great defensive kick to save a goal.

At the 30th minute Dixon took her first shot on goal of the half.  A corner kick sent the ball directly in front of the goal where several Titans got their foot on it, but it was deflected by the Lady Lions.

Dixon sent the ball up to player Kayla Griffin who took a shot on goal.  Amy Libardi who was busy helping the defense also moved the ball to shoot.  Dixon followed up with 2 more shots on goal.  One was a shot from a deflected ball from a penalty kick.

Whitney Ernst stayed busy with 2 more saves.  Dixon continued to pressure the Lions' keeper with another shot on goal.  Jen Gornall followed up with a shot that truly looked like a score and the Titan crowd was hopeful.
